The last two weeks, I’ve had the privilege of sewing with a family friend’s daughter.
It’s been quite a few years since I’ve sewn with a child and I have to admit I was a bit intimidated since she’s only seven.
Well. She blew me out of the water!
She already has a greater grasp of sewing tools and techniques than many adults I know. She knew to square up the fabric before cutting it to size and enthusiastically pinned fabric together like she’d been doing it for an eternity.
While I’d love to take credit for this vast knowledge, sewing camp gets all the glory. Who knew they even had a thing called sewing camp?
I’m definitely going to have to check into it because it’s sparked her interest in sewing and fanned the flames of her creativity. Would you believe she’s already designing her own patterns? A cat bed is her current pet project (pun intended).
Bottom line…she was amazing and I can’t wait to see what we tackle next.
